Trailer Watch: Defiance

Edward Zwick is on the short list of my favorite directors. He made his directorial debut in 1986 with About Last Night, the dramedy starring Rob Lowe and Demi Moore. His big break came 3 years later when he directed the Civil War epic Glory, one of my all time favorite films. His last two features, Blood Diamond & The Last Samurai, were beautiful, engaging, and intense action dramas. Each received multiple Oscar nominations. Zwick’s newest film is Defiance and it stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Live Schreiber, and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot). It is the story of three Jewish brothers who escape Nazi occupied Poland into the forests of Belarus and join up with Russian freedom fighters.

If you are going to see any WWII epic this year (and there are a few to choose from) this is the one to see. It looks incredible.

Defiance is set for release later this year.
